My Vision
This was my vision some 18+ years ago for the Cornerstone Church Fine Arts Dept. It was written out of conversations with headship as we discussed in depth what he saw and desired.
It was flexible and has been ever since but the point of having a vision is to set us on course to run accurately. As you read it please use it maybe as a guide as you create your own vision
THE VISION:
To prepare a platform for the ministering of the Word; to be all things to all men; all styles yet no style; jubilant, yet aggressive, in our praise and reverential in our worship.
PHASE ONE: PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Build a team of singers and instrumentalists that have the calling and the skill to minister in the office of praise and worship. The team will consist of six to eight singers and as many instrumentalist as we can obtain. Over the course of two years, the team is to become a thoroughly equipped team, a chain with no weak links. This means developing on a personal and team level in the natural and in the spirit.
Now is the time for sharpening and improving our talents and gifts. God is doing a quick work, a “suddenly,” but it’s up to us to yield ourselves to His will.
PHASE TWO: CHORALE
This is a group of people that will sing special music on the first Sunday of the month and do special events outside the church that the praise and worship team would not be suited for.
PHASE THREE: CHOIR
This is another group, with many people. They will sing every fifth Sunday, Christmas, and Easter. They will sing all styles of music, from classical to gospel.
PHASE FOUR: WRITERS GROUP
Anointed, gifted, and skilled songwriters. They will meet the last week of every month and submit songs for the music department. They will be writing for every aspect of the music ministry at Cornerstone, because I believe what comes out of this ministryin the area of music should be from within the ministry.
PHASE FIVE: CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH DEPARTMENT
The children’s choir could minister on Mother’s and Father’s day as well as during the Christmas season. The youth group would minister to the congregation when needed but they could minister specifically to other youths in other churches. The youth will eventually have a band of their own.
PHASE SIX: SOLOIST
They will sing at least once a month (scheduled one month in advance), and whenever Pastor needs a song at the last minute for his message.
PHASE SEVEN: NIGHT OF PRAISE
This will be held three, maybe four times a year, and will consist of a full night of praise and worship.
PHASE EIGHT: ARTS
This is bringing the arts back to the House of God. This will include dancers, flag teams and banner carriers. We plan to record every aspect of the music ministry as God would have it beginning with the praise and worship team. The vision is attainable but we must always strive to improve on our BEST. This is the vision and I encourage you to read it and run with it.
